Working at our HQ
OPERATIONAL CENTRE IN DAKAR
In 2015, ALIMA carried out 25 projects in seven countries, with an operational headquarters staff of 35 in Dakar and more than 1,200 people – including 150 expatriate staff – in the field.
The operations department consists of two regional desks and an emergency desk. One regional desk coordinates operations in Niger, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon; the second desk supports programes in Burkina Faso, Mali, the Central African Republic and Guinea.
To make sure we can provide adaptable medical responses to growing humanitarian needs, ALIMA opened an emergency department in 2016. Medical teams are now able to launch exploratory missions within 24 hours in the event of epidemics, displacement or armed conflict.
A supply department supports field teams with construction, hygiene, water and sanitation, and delivery of medical and non-medical equipment.
The medical service monitors and analyzes medical activities to improve the quality of care provided to patients. It also helps field staff with technical medical issues (including general and specialized medicine, surgery, pharmacy management, malaria, malnutrition etc.).
A research center coordinates our operational research on innovative solutions to health and patient care issues that we encounter whilst providing medical care for people in need.
